The Power of Imagination
Hubby is always speaking about "The Power of Imagination". If you believe enough in something, you will end up achieving it. For him this always comes through, and he really believes in the things that he want in life. But in my family it seems that we end up getting the things that we fear the most...
Maybe its time to get rid of all the fear and negative thinking, so we can concentrate on positive thoughts and the things that we really want in life?
When hubby was a child he used to spend his holidays and weekends in a friends apartment located in a holiday village. His biggest dream was to one day have his own apartment in that area.
Years later we took a lastminute trip and we ended up in that same city. We saw a small apartment for sale and was dreaming about one day being able to live there.
After a few years we were looking for a new place to live. We looked at hundred of houses in hundred of places. All of a sudden we got a great deal on a house with a garden and a great view in the exact same place that hubby had been dreaming about having a small apartment his whole life. Power of imagination or coincidence?
After that he got a new dream; a projector. After looking in every store and all over internet he found the one he wanted, but it costed a fortune! For three years he was looking for that projector, and suddenly one day he found it for less than third of the original price. And the quality was better than he could ever imagine! Power of imagination or coincidence?
With the projector in box came a new dream; a Playstation 3. But again way out of our budget. For months he was looking all over internet. He even used Google translate to search through japanese websites selling secondhand electronics.
One day his friend decided to buy himself a 3D TV. When he went to the store for make the deal, they told him they had a special Christmas offer; the TV came with a free Playstation 3! The man already had a PS3 so he decided to give the second one to his friend; my hubby, as a Christmas present. How many stores give out free PS3's? And how many friends give a friend a PS3 for Christmas? But once again hubby got more than he could ask for. Power of imagination or coincidence?
Hubby is a dreamer who always thinks the best of everyone, and always have positive thoughts. Maybe thats why he always gets what he want?
Because in my family it seems to be the opposite. My grandfather hated candles. He never had any bad experience with them, he just did not like the flames. Unfortunately he spent his last minutes on earth running around his house with a water bucket trying to put out a fire. Not caused by candles, but still. Power of imagination or coincidence?
Of course the fire affected the family a lot. Almost everything got lost in the fire, but the worst of all was of course the loss of my beloved grandfather. As the years have gone by, everyone have learned to deal with it as best as they can. But every year all the memories come rushing back around the date of the fire.
Yesterday a fire started in the office of my uncle. One would think the man had learned something after the big fire, but he did exactly the same thing his father had done; run around with a water bucket to put out the fire. Luckily it all ended well! But the date? The day before the big fire a few years earlier... Power of imagination or coincidence?
There are so many other stories that could be told. Did the things happened as a coincidence, or because we thought so much about it that it ended up coming true? I for one know that I'm not going to take any more risks!
From now I will try to put away all my negative thoughts, and especially my fears! And instead concentrate on the positive thoughts. About the things I want; like a long, happy and healthy life surrounded by loving friends and family.
It's time to stop worrying about the rain that might come, and start enjoying the sun that is shining!
